Client Profile
Val Verde Regional Medical Center (VVRMC) is a rural community hospital in operation since 1959. Located in Texas, VVRMC employs over 700 people and has more than 80 beds, providing critical healthcare services to the local community.
The Challenge
VVRMC needed a reliable internet backup solution to support their Meditech hospital information system. The primary challenge was to ensure continuous internet connectivity for critical healthcare operations. The implementation process included running fiber, setting up Starlink, configuring firewalls, and ensuring proper network routing. Extensive failover testing was conducted, including a 2-hour test and a 12-hour test with 400 users, both of which were successful without any glitches or latency issues.
Outcomes
The new internet backup solution provided VVRMC with a reliable backup ISP. The immediate benefit was the assurance of continuous connectivity for critical hospital operations. Over time, this solution could serve as a model for other hospitals and public entities seeking similar reliability.
